I have recently backed up my iPhone 6s through iCloud and restored that information to an iPhone 8 using iCloud, but when I did the backup, iMessage was not connected to iCloud. When I finished the set up on the iPhone 8, my number is being used on iMessage and not my Apple ID as well. I went to settings and turned iMessage on for iCloud but nothing happened so I tried going to settings>messages and tapped “use Apple ID for iMessage” but it did not respond to that command. Is there a way to fix this issue?

You should see that there’s a new message that shows you the option if you want to use your Apple ID for incoming or outgoing messages. Go to the iMessage section through your phone’s Settings. You can do this by tapping on the “Settings”, then go to “iMessage”, then tap on “Send and Receive”. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings Messages, then turn on iMessage. On your Mac, open Messages, then do one of the following: If you’re signing in for the first time, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Sign In.
